I was warmly welcomed with a pleasant smile when I entered. The food was delicious! I ordered a three way combo with ribs, links and brisket all was tasty and tender. The Mac was moist and to die for. Beans and potato salad was average. I really enjoyed the yams and greens something I'm craving for now. Nice size portions too. I was a little hesitant considering we were the only customers.
Genny is the best! Her hospitality is priceless. On top of that her for was delicious from the sides to the meat. And this was prepared on her day off. Thank you so much. See you soon!

Damn good. A little pricey but damn good. Got ribs, chicken and catfish. All we're well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It's on the go to list with Everett and Jones on the bbq, and Lena's on the catshish.
Hidden gem!! Visited them a couple of days ago, had the brisket, oxtail and ribs dinner plates. Oxtail was super soft, falling off the bones and was very tasteful. Brisket was very tender and juicy. Ribs was also very soft, juicy and falling off the bones. Sides are to die for!!!! Had the mac and cheese, yams, and beans. They even threw in a couple of Pepsi's!! Will definitely visit this place again!!!
Genny's is the real deal! I discovered this place years ago from Yelp. Great barbecue is hard to find but Genny's has it. There is no better brisket or rib dinner available in the East Bay. You can't go wrong on the sides, they are all delicious!
I recently had Genny make a large order for a party. She gave us a lot of food! Our guests said it was the best barbecue they'd ever had. If you are seeking authentic Southern-style barbecue Genny's will not disappoint.
Our first time at Genny's did not disappoint! The ribs were tender and the homemade sauce truly was finger-licking good. The cornbread was perfect, and at the end of our meal, the only hard thing was having to choose between all of the amazing sides. We'll be back soon, that's for sure!
Very nice people and really good food. They put together a great meal for a large group of us. They were very generous with the portions. We got the ribs and they were delicious. The cornbread is great as well.
Once in a while one runs into the real deal and finds a slice of heaven on earth.
I often hear the hipsters are looking for the "real thing". Well, this is it. More importantly it is delicious. They use real wood to slow cook a lot of flavorful cuts of meat. The meat tastes like bbq meat and has a bit of sauce on it. The sauce compliments rather than covers the flavor of the meat. It does not need to be overpowered with sugary thick sauce.
The yams were extremely good and so were the boston baked beans and the red beans. The greens were great, but a bit bitter (used larger older leafs) than I prefer.
The oxtail was a bit of heaven with gravy so delicious that I can only hope the recipe is archived for the benefit of the human race.
The customer service was very good and the owner clearly loved her cooking. Her employee was a kind young man. The place had none of the fancy decor tourists look for, instead it had stacks of wood for the fire and an open kitchen so you could see they were clean and filling the food with smoky love.
